Embrace the world of APIs with Prosoft
Are you familiar with APIs? API (Application Programming Interface) is a software interface offering a service to other pieces of software. It works as a middleman that delivers your request to the provider and sends the response back to you. APIs are currently everywhere in our life, and many interactions are enabled by APIs. One common example is when you book your flight tickets or hotel rooms through online travel agents like Expedia, Booking.com, or Skyscanner. When you search and reserve your hotel rooms through an online travel agent, an API will connect the online travel agent to the hotel reservation database.
APIs open up businesses to a new world of innovation, as they can be used to connect people to real-time data, this can boost productivity and hasten the technological transformation. It also allows us to have a secure and reliable option for end-to-end service interaction. Access to the information and data synchronization can be done more efficiently and flexibly with the APIs.
And what about Prosoft? Prosoft has new APIs available and more in the roadmap that will gradually cover all functionalities in the system, as you can see in the following image.
One of the APIs, the Employee API, is currently available and ready for implementation. It allows real-time data access to employee information, enabling more effective and reliable employee data integration, immediate response, and less manual work. We are finalizing our APIs for Claim and Leave and plan to release them in Q2 2022. These APIs will allow real-time data access for an approved claim and leave records in bulk and the employees’ claim and leave status/balance.

Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) API
As we discuss APIs, it’s also a good time to spotlight the IRAS APIs. Prosoft is one of the few payroll vendors which supports the IRAS API since 2018 and has the level A category, the highest category according to the IRAS. This level A category means that Prosoft API complies with the full list of 22 recommended controls by IRAS for all submission formats.
The API integrates Prosoft and IRAS systems. The submitted employment incomes will be verified against IRAS's validation logic and sent to IRAS directly after successful verification.
From Year of Assessment (YA) 2023 onwards, in line with the IRAS' initiative to improve the tax submission process, IRAS has announced that the payroll vendors are to use the API for the submission of employment income information of employees to IRAS; and that the Auto-Inclusion Scheme (AIS) Offline Applications (including the Validation & Submission Java Application) will be decommissioned.
To prepare for the implementation of the new regulation, we will provide more information on the use of IRAS API that will be available in the coming weeks.
